String Audition results 2010-2011
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
The following students have won places in EUSO for the 2010-2011 Season. Default priority has to be awarded to qualified, declared Emory string performance majors; participation is a degree plan requirement. This was a particularly competitive year in terms of both the caliber of playing and numbers. Many difficult choices had to be made and I sincerely appreciate your understanding in those matters. Returning declared majors who did not pass the audition should contact me immediately.
Please note that students are listed by instrument in ALPHABETICAL order. We will derive the seating order for this semester from the entrance auditions; this will be available at the first rehearsal on Tuesday. All accepted students play a seating audition at the beginning of the Spring semester based on prescribed excerpts.
• First rehearsal: Tuesday August 31st, 5:30-7:30pm at the Schwartz Center where you auditioned. Students are expected to arrive early to be seated and warmed up. A reminder of the weekly regular rehearsal times: Tuesday 5:30-7:30pm; Thursday 7:00-9:00pm.
• All undergraduate students will enroll in MUS300 Orchestra. The class will open for a short time (to be announced later) on OPUS and all accepted students must enroll at that time. If you have a problem enrolling on OPUS please email the Music Department’s Academic Service Coordinator, Camille Jackson on LearnLink. She will be able to solve any issues. Please remember that the University Symphony is a 1-credit performance class. As with all performance classes (lessons and ensembles), this is an automatic overload credit that will not interfere with the number of credits you are enrolled for with academic classes.
• If you are not able to accept your place, please email me immediately so that your spot can be offered to a qualified alternate.
INDIVIDUAL LESSONS
I will complete studio assignments early this week and contact individual students directly to connect them with their teachers. Returning majors should have already contacted their teachers by now and established a lesson time. One hour weekly lessons are scheduled at a time that works in your schedule and your teacher’s schedule.
Declared majors will be enrolled in MUS320 (2 credits) by the Music Department; you cannot enroll yourself. Lessons for majors are $400 per semester for 12 lessons. Non-majors wanting lessons for credit will also be enrolled directly by the Music Department in MUS310 (1 credit). If you did not do so at your audition, you must complete the MUS310 form available from the Music Department at Burlington Road. Lessons for non-majors are $800 per semester for 12 lessons.
